One of my screwdriver's bits has stripped or worn out. Is this normal?Updated 2 years ago
Yes. Screwdriver bits are considered a consumable product, which means that you should expect to have to replace them every now and then. This is a normal part of owning any screwdriver with interchangeable bits.
To increase the lifespan of your screwdriver's bits, observe the following best-practices:
- Never turn screws with your screwdriver positioned at an angle
- Be careful not to over-torque your screw. The 8.4-inch length of our screwdriver may make over-torqueing easier than other screwdrivers you may have owned in the past. Generally, more length = more torque
- Be especially careful when using thinner bits such as Torx as these are easier to over-torque than larger ones
- If significant force is required to get a screw to turn, consider unscrewing and starting over (ensuring you are positioning the screw exactly perpendicular to the surface) or using a different tool such as a cordless drill. Whichever is most appropriate for the project
- Never use your screwdriver as a pry-bar or any other unintended use case
