The black coating on my Black Shaft screwdriver is wearing off, even with light use. Is this normal?Updated 2 years ago
Yes. Your limited edition black shaft screwdriver is subject to significant wear over time. It is not possible to develop a metal coating that will last forever. We think that the coating wearing off adds a "gritty" element to the screwdriver that many people find appealing, however not everybody will agree with this. The standard silver shaft screwdriver is available as an alternative if this is not to your liking.
While originally an intended feature of the screwdriver, because of this issue we decided against the black coating late in the development of this product. Subsequently and by popular demand, we decided to offer the original black shafts as a limited-edition colorway, but with the understanding that the coating will eventually wear off. If you're interested in learning more about the development of our screwdriver and what went into our decision-making, check out this video.
Please note that cosmetic wear is not covered under the terms of your screwdriver's limited lifetime warranty. We will not offer replacements for screwdrivers whose black shaft coating has worn off under any circumstance (unless other types of issues that are covered by the warranty are also present at the same time).
